ABOUT
ABOUT OUT TO LUNCH/DOWNTOWN TONIGHT
Out to Lunch and Downtown ToNight is an annual summer event series, hosted by the Downtown Missoula Partnership, that features live music, local food trucks, child-friendly activities, and adult beverages in Caras Park. Out to Lunch occurs every Wednesday from 11 AM-2 PM during June, July, and August. Downtown ToNight occurs every Thursday from 5:30-8:30 PM during June, July, and August.
These events have been occurring annually in Missoula for 37 and 22 years. It is a staple of summer for many Missoulians and is very beloved by the community. These events are able to be put on thanks to the numerous sponsors who donate their time and money to keep these events running.
INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
As a Marketing and Events Intern for the Downtown Missoula Partnership, my responsibilities included,
-
Event Coordination and Planning: Assisted in the coordination and planning of the 14 Out to Lunch and 13 Downtown ToNight events, ensuring all logistical aspects were organized and executed smoothly.
-
Event Setup, Running, and Teardown: Played a vital role in the setup, management, and teardown of each Out to Lunch and Downtown ToNight event, ensuring that everything ran seamlessly in coordination with my team members.
-
Design and Distribution: Designed and distributed event signage throughout Downtown Missoula which contributed to event promotion and attendance.
-
Website Enhancement: Contributed to the DMP website by updating the Out to Lunch and Downtown ToNight sections with accurate event information as well as weekly event performers and activities.
-
Financial Collection: Collected financial compensations from food vendors at the end of each event as well as accurately calculated and recorded payments to ensure compliance with established financial policies and procedures.
-
Social Media Marketing: In collaboration with the Out-of-Home marketing efforts, I made sure to publish weekly posts promoting Out to Lunch and Downtown ToNight on Facebook and Instagram, showcasing what artists were performing each week as well as what children's activities were present at each week's event. In hand with these posts, I posted Instagram stories showing real-time event occurrences to gain not only event traction but also social media engagement with our social media pages.
This role within my internship allowed me hands-on event experience and the cultivation of my marketing abilities in a real-world event space.
